East West Salt and pepper Diamond Art Deco Engagement Ring

Salt and Pepper Diamond East West Ring

East West Salt and Pepper Diamond Art Deco Engagement Ring

I had the pleasure of working with the cutest couple recently to design her Salt and Pepper Diamond Engagement Ring.

She was IN LOVE with all things Art Deco (well aren't we all?) and wanted an unusual center stone that was not a traditional white diamond. Alternative engagement rings are really popular right now as brides-to-be want their ring to reflect something special and unique. And this engagement ring we custom designed for her was certainly that. The Salt and Pepper Diamond we chose was all of those unique and special things.

Grey Diamond Emerald Rose Cut

AN EMERALD CUT GREY DIAMOND

We settled on a gorgeous 2.6 ct. grey diamond in an emerald shape. I loved how it gave off little celestial rainbow sparkles in the sun and was a beautiful glowy translucent grey under normal light. Almost like it had been lit by candlelight.

The most unusual thing about this particular diamond was that it was a emerald shape and a rose cut. (Whew! Quite a mouthful). The emerald shape was a must have since my client wanted an her grey diamond set into an East West setting.

If you have been around the jewelry block a bit like I have you know what a rare find this was. Especially in this carat size. Not something you see very often. Luckily, I have a wide range of diamond dealers that I have cultivated relationships with over the years and we managed to find the absolute perfect stone in pretty short order. I believe in kismet. And this definitely fell under that category.

When I received it, I almost squealed with delight. Not only was it of epic size...(did I mention it was 2.6ct) but it was an absolute beauty of translucent goodness. I immediately took it out into the sunshine and it just sparkled little rainbows of celestial beams of light. I was immediately smitten and was sure my client would be too.

I always make sure to send my clients photos of their center stone for approval. I want them see the stone in indoor AND outdoor lighting as stones can look very different in each.

CUSTOM SALT AND PEPPER DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING

Next up is the fun part. Actually doing the custom design. My sweet client wanted it to have a Art Deco feel but with a modern twist. She also loved baguette diamonds and wanted to incorporate those. I personally am obsessed with baguette diamonds so she wasn't getting any arguments from me on that little detail.

Once we had a design direction, I sent out a 3D rendering for approval. This helps to be able to see what the ring will look like when it is finished with your EXACT stone. Very important. We always want to exceed your expectations and the best way to do this is to provide lots and lots of visuals along the way.

Not only do our clients love this because they are part of the whole process, but it also eliminates misunderstandings. We want you to love your ring!
